Pedro Gallese had to leave Veracruz’s game against Pachuca on Tuesday night after suffering an injury to his right hand. The club reported that the goalkeeper suffered a fracture and underwent surgery.
The injury is expected to keep Gallese sidelined for several months, and the goalkeeper’s absence is bad news not just for the Tiburones Rojos but also for the Peruvian national team. Gallese will miss Peru’s final four World Cup qualifying games, which he was expected to start.
Pachuca sent Gallese wishes for a quick recovery, noting that “rivalry is left on the field”.
