León extended their road winning streak to three games with a 1-2 victory against Querétaro. The result leaves the Gallos Blancos winless in four and adds to their home woes; Querétaro has just one win from their four home games to date.
León has played better on the road than at home this season, and that continued tonight. The visitors took the lead in the 17th minute when Elías Hernández beat Tiago Volpi with a powerful shot.
León dominated the rest of the first half, as they had the lion’s share of possession and kept Querétaro pinned into their own defensive third. However, they weren’t able to add to their lead while they had the run of play in their favor, and Querétaro was able to tie it in the second half.
In the 60th minute, Alexis Pérez finished off a corner kick to make it 1-1. After the equalizer, the Gallos Blancos threw numbers forward as they looked to complete the comeback. León’s control of the game slipped and Querétaro began to threaten William Yarbrough’s goal.
However, just when Querétaro looked strongest, León retook the lead. In the 80th minute, Mauro Boselli got on the end of a through ball and beat Volpi to make it 1-2.
Querétaro pushed for a second equalizer, but León was able to hold on to the lead.
With the 1-2 win, León reaches 10 points while Querétaro still has nine.
