Santos Laguna vs Toluca – Jornada 8 Recap and Highlights

Neither team could find the breakthrough in this one as Santos Laguna and Toluca played out a 0-0 draw. The result keeps the Laguneros winless at home this season but unbeaten in three overall while the Diablos Rojos remain winless on the road but unbeaten in two overall.

The hosts had the better of the run of play, but both teams were lacking precision in the final third. The best chance of the half for Santos came in the 26th minute with a dangerous shot from Gael Sandoval, but it was off target.

It was more of the same in the second half. Diego de Buen forced a good save out of Luis García in the 46th minute with his shot from outside the box; de Buen later hit the post from a free kick as Santos continued to press.

Toluca’s best chance came from a set piece in the 68th minute. Rodrigo Gómez sent the free kick through the wall but Jonathan Orozco made the save to preserve the shutout.

The hosts out-shot Toluca by a significant margin, but they couldn’t find a reward for their efforts. Then, in the 89th minute, the Diablos nearly snatched the lead when Santiago García got his head to a corner kick, but Orozco did well to keep it out.

With the 0-0 draw, Santos reaches eight points while Toluca reaches 13.
