Monarcas Morelia vs Tigres UANL – 8:00 PM – Univision Deportes
Monarcas Morelia (6th) beat Lobos BUAP 1-3 last weekend to give La Monarquía three wins in a row. They won in the Copa MX in midweek as well with a 2-1 victory against Necaxa. Morelia will look to keep that streak alive when they return to the Estadio Morelos, where they have had mixed results this season – one win, one loss, and two draws.
As for Tigres UANL (5th), the universitarios did not play last weekend as their Jornada 8 game against Atlas was postponed. In their last league match, Tigres beat Lobos BUAP 3-2, a result that kept them unbeaten at home this season and unbeaten in three overall. They did lose in midweek, however, as they fell 1-3 to Zacatepec in the Copa MX.
Tijuana vs América – 10:00 PM – Univision Deportes
Tijuana (3rd) beat Pumas UNAM 0-2 last weekend to extend their winning streak to four games and their unbeaten streak to five. The Xolos will look to keep those streaks alive when they return home to the Estadio Caliente for this one, where they are in the midst of a two-game winning streak. The Xolos have had some defense troubles, though; they’ve allowed the most goals of any team in the top eight and they actually have a negative goal difference at home this season.
As for América (2nd), the Águilas beat Veracruz 2-0 last weekend to snap a two-game winless run. They’ll look to follow that up with another win in this one as they try to close the gap with Monterrey at the top of the table. América will have the advantage of some extra rest as, unlike Tijuana, they did not have a midweek game. The Águilas also have one of the better attacking records in the league.
