In addition, Ascenso MX, Liga MX Femenil, and the U-20, U-17, and U-15 weekend games have all been postponed as well.
The decision was made after communication with local, state, and federal authorities, as well as to show solidarity with those affected by the quake. In announcing the postponements, Liga MX called on fans to contribute to donation centers and the Red Cross. Many Liga MX teams have turned their stadiums into collection points for bottled water, canned goods, and other needed supplies.
Liga MX’s Jornada 10 has been rescheduled for October 17 and 18, dates that were originally slated to hold the Copa MX quarterfinals; Liga MX Femenil’s Jornada 9 will be played on those same dates, while Ascenso MX’s Jornada 9 was rescheduled for October 6, 7, and 8.
The Copa MX Round of 16 was moved to October 24 and 25, the original dates of the semifinals; the quarterfinals were moved to October 31 and November 1; the semifinals to the November FIFA break; and the new date for the final has yet to be determined.
