Lobos BUAP earned a 1-2 away win against Chivas de Guadalajara as the Apertura 2017 season resumed after a week-long hiatus. The victory is a second straight one for the licántropos, while Chivas remains winless at home this season.
Lobos’ high-pressure start to the game kept them largely in the hosts’ defensive third. Amaury Escoto had the first good chance for the visitors when he hit the post with his volley. Then, in the 21st minute, Lobos found the breakthrough.
Eduardo Tercero got free on the left and drove into the box before sending the ball to the far post, where Luis Advíncula knocked it home. 0-1.
The lead built Lobos’ confidence and they had a number of good chances to add to their lead, although they ultimately came to naught.
Chivas made two halftime substitutions as they looked to turn things around, and in the 53rd minutes they found an equalizer. Rodolfo Pizarro made it 1-1 for El Rebaño with his golazo from outside of the box.
After the tying goal, Chivas enjoyed their best moments of the game as they pushed to complete the comeback. But as time wore on, it looked like Chivas and Lobos would have to settle for a share of the spoils.
Then, in the 85th minute, Lobos reclaimed the lead as Amaury Escoto made it 1-2 for the visitors with his acrobatic bicycle kick.
