The visitors took an early lead thanks to a goalkeeping error. In the 8th minute, Juan Pablo Vigón tried his luck from distance, and Moisés Muñoz fumbled the ball, allowing it to slide by and nestle into the net. 0-1.
It didn’t take Puebla long to find a response, however. In the 18th minute, Lucas Cavallini broke away behind the defense and chipped Óscar Ustari from just inside the box to make it 1-1.
Both teams had chances at a second goal, but when halftime came around the game was still deadlocked, and once the hour mark rolled around both teams began to turn to their benches.
It was Atlas’s substitutions that paid dividends. Matías Alustiza entered the game in the 63rd minute and restored the Rojinegros’ lead in the 64th. “El Chavo” fired a precise free kick into the bottom corner to make it 1-2.
Puebla was unable to find a second equalizer and instead Atlas came close to finding a third. Alustiza had a good chance late on with his shot from distance, but that time Muñoz was able to make the save.
With the 1-2 win, Atlas reaches 10 points while Puebla still has seven.
