Pachuca vs Cruz Azul – Jornada 11 Recap and Highlights

Pachuca snapped their three-game losing streak with an emphatic 4-0 victory against Cruz Azul. The result brings La Máquina’s season-long unbeaten streak to an abrupt halt and leaves them winless on the road in four.

The visitors started the game off well, with Ángel Mena and Édgar Méndez attacking down the wings, but Pachuca weathered the early storm and then struck to open the scoring in the 16th minute.

The Tuzos used the speed of Franco Jara and Edson Puch to get through Cruz Azul’s defense, with the Chilean making it 1-0 with his first-time strike.

Cruz Azul looked for an equalizer, but Víctor Guzmán received the ball between two defenders and used his speed to get away from them and into the box, where he beat Jesús Corona to make it 2-0 in the 36th minute.

Moments into the second half, Pachuca nearly made it 3-0 when Puch connected with Guzmán, but he couldn’t put his attempt on frame. Cruz Azul responded with the insertions of Chaco Giménez and Martín Cauteruccio, which gave them a more dynamic presence in attack.

In the 62nd minute, Cauteruccio came close to reducing the deficit with his shot from the center of the box, but Óscar Pérez was there to make the save.

Pachuca continued to knock on the door themselves as they looked to add to their lead, and in the 85th minute, Guzmán found his second of the night, making it 3-0 with his shot past Corona.

Keisuke Honda then put the cherry on top of the victory in the 89th minute, when the substitute beat Jordan Silva and then sent his diagonal shot into the corner to make it 4-0.

With the 4-0 win, Pachuca reaches 12 points while Cruz Azul still has 15.
