Tijuana took the lead but couldn’t hold it as Chivas de Guadalajara came back for a 3-1 victory. The result is El Rebaño’s first home win of the season and a second consecutive victory, while the Xolos have now lost two in a row.
The game started off well for the visitors, who took the lead in the 6th minute. Good combination play in the attack ended with Miller Bolaños making it 0-1 for Tijuana.
Chivas looked for a response and in the 20th minute they found the equalizer. Carlos Fierro and Juan Basulto combined before Fierro’s shot beat Gibrán Lajud to make it 1-1.
The hosts completed the comeback before halftime. In the 37th minute, 18-year-old José Macías scored his first goal in Liga MX with his shot that went in off the woodwork to make it 2-1.
In the second half, Tijuana threw numbers forward as they looked to get back into the game, but Chivas took advantage of the gaps that left in the back. In the 55th minute, Macías scored his second goal from the edge of the box to make it 3-1 and seal Guadalajara’s victory.
With the 3-1 win, Chivas reaches 15 points while Tijuana still has 18.
