Apertura 2017 Week 16 Statistics

Monterrey remained in first despite their 2-1 loss to Lobos BUAP, while Pumas UNAM remained last despite their 2-2 draw with Santos Laguna.

In the playoff race, América joined Monterrey and Tigres UANL as qualified teams, while Lobos BUAP, Pachuca, Santos, Puebla, and Chivas de Guadalajara joined Veracruz, Querétaro, and Pumas as teams unable to qualify.

In the relegation fight, Veracruz remained last in the Tabla de Cociente with their 0-1 loss to Toluca, while relegation rivals  Lobos, Atlas, and Querétaro all won and Puebla drew,

The best attacking record belongs to Tigres, with 28 goals for, followed by León with 27. The worst attack belongs to Pumas, with 13 goals scored, followed by Puebla and Veracruz with 14 each.

In total, 21 goals were scored in Jornada 16 for an average of 2.3 per game.

In terms of individual goalscoring, Mauro Boselli (León) leads the league with his 11 goals, followed by Avilés Hurtado (Monterrey) with 10, and then Enner Valencia (Tigres), Julian Quiñones (Lobos), and Julio César Furch (Santos) with nine apiece.

On the other end of the field, the best defensive record belongs to Monterrey, with 11 goals against, followed by Tigres with 14. The worst defense is Lobos’, with 31 goals against, followed by Veracruz with 27.

On the disciplinary side of things, the referees handed out 36 yellows and just one red, to Monarcas Morelia. Chivas tops the Fair Play table with their 24 yellows (the fewest in the league) and three reds, while Cruz Azul is at the foot of the Fair Play standings with their 45 yellows and four reds. Tijuana has received the most cautions to date, with 48, while América and Toluca are tied for the most ejections, with five.

The total announced attendance for Jornada 16 was 212,304, for an average of 25,589 per game. Tigres vs Necaxa in the Volcán drew the biggest crowd, of 41,210, while just 8,334 were in the Estadio Universitario BUAP to see Lobos vs Monterrey.
