A week after the Copa MX semifinals concluded with Pachuca defeating Atlante – and two weeks after the first finalist, Monterrey, booked their spot with a victory against América – the schedule for the Gran Final has been announced.
The Apertura 2017 Copa MX was disrupted when the Round of Sixteen was rescheduled following the earthquakes that struck Mexico this fall, which caused a domino effect with all the subsequent rounds. The final was originally slated for November 2nd, but after all of the reshuffling, it will now be played on December 21st.
Scheduling the Gran Final was further complicated by the fact that one finalist – Monterrey – is in the league playoffs, while the other – Pachuca – is competing in the FIFA Club World Cup.
The final will be hosted by the Rayados, as the higher seed. All times Eastern.
