Lobos BUAP vs Querétaro – 6:00 PM
Lobos BUAP (18th) fell 4-2 to Santos Laguna last weekend and will now be looking to earn their first points of the season when they return home in this one. With both Lobos and Querétaro very much involved in the relegation fight, earning points in this game takes on added importance for both teams.
As for Querétaro (17th), the Gallos Blancos fell 0-1 to América last weekend and now will be on the road as they look for their first points – and their first goals. They’ll look to take advantage of Lobos’ defensive woes here as they try to open up some breathing room for themselves in the relegation fight; they are currently penultimate in the Tabla de Cociente.
América vs Pachuca – 6:00 PM – Univision Deportes / ESPN Deportes
América (5th) earned a 0-1 away win against Querétaro last weekend and will now look to make it two wins in a row when they return home to the Estadio Azteca. The Águilas had mixed results at home last season, however, as they earned nearly two-thirds of their points on the road in the Apertura. They’ll look for a stronger home showing this season, starting against a team that is looking vulnerable.
As for Pachuca (14th), the Tuzos fell 2-3 to Pumas UNAM last weekend, a home loss made particularly painful by the fact that they at one point were leading 2-0. Pachuca will look to put that loss behind them with a better result in this one, but they’ll need a better defensive performance to do so.
Tigres UANL vs Santos Laguna – 8:00 PM – Univision Deportes
Tigres UANL (15th) fell 2-1 to Puebla last weekend, an unexpected result for the reigning champions. The universitarios will now look for a more favorable result when they return home to the Volcán for this one. Tigres were unbeaten at home last season, with seven wins and a draw, and they’ll look to keep that streak alive in the Clausura.
As for Santos Laguna (1st), the Laguneros earned a 4-2 victory against Lobos BUAP last weekend to put themselves top of the table. They’ll look to defend their spot as superlíder with another victory when they go on the road, although the Volcán is not an easy place for visitors to pick up points.
León vs Toluca – 8:06 PM – ESPN Deportes / Galavisión
León (3rd) earned a 1-2 away win against Atlas last weekend and will now look for another victory when they return home for this one. La Fiera did pick up a home win in midweek, when they beat Venados 1-0 in the Copa MX. León had mixed results at home last season with a 4-1-4 record, and they’ll look to make better use of their home-field advantage this season.
As for Toluca (9th), the Diablos Rojos drew 1-1 with Chivas de Guadalajara last weekend. They are both unbeaten and winless in all competitions after they also drew in the Copa MX in midweek, a 2-2 deadlock with Mineros de Zacatecas. They’ll look for their first win here, but Toluca was one of the worst road teams in the league last season with just one victory away from the Estadio Nemesio Diez.
Chivas de Guadalajara vs Cruz Azul – 10:06 PM – Univision Deportes
Chivas de Guadalajara (7th) drew 1-1 with Toluca last weekend and they’ll be looking for their first win of the season when they return home for this one. El Rebaño struggled at home last season, though, where they picked up just one win in the Estadio Akron in their nine home matches. Chivas will look to improve upon that this season starting this Saturday.
As for Cruz Azul (13th), La Máquina drew 0-0 with Tijuana last weekend to leave them looking for their first win as well. Cruz Azul was active in midweek as well, where they fell 1-0 to Alebrijes de Oaxaca in the Copa MX, leaving them winless and goalless in all competitions. They’ll look to take advantage of Chivas’s poor home form to change that here.
