Neither team could find the breakthrough in this one as Cruz Azul and León played out a 0-0 draw. The result keeps both teams unbeaten this season although it also ends León’s perfect start to the Clausura 2018.
The visitors controlled the first half and La Fiera created a number of dangerous chances. The clearest came in the 21st minute, when Elías Hernández sent his left-footed shot to the far post; Jesús Corona was stranded, but Enzo Roco was there on the line to head the ball clear and save Cruz Azul.
León had another good chance through Luis Montes, whose shot from distance forced a good save out of Corona. But the visitors couldn’t make their pressure count, and in the second half Cruz Azul regrouped.
Ángel Mena, Adrián Aldrete, and Francisco Silva tested William Yarbrough, but none of them could beat the keeper. At the other end, León created a few more chances, with Elías Hernández continuing to look dangerous, but in the end the teams had to settle for a share of the spoils.
With the 0-0 draw, Cruz Azul reaches five points while León reaches seven.
