Pachuca vs Lobos BUAP – Jornada 3 Recap and Highlights

Pachuca earned their first win of the season with a 3-1 victory against Lobos BUAP. The result keeps the Tuzos unbeaten in two while the Licántropos are still looking for their first win – and their first point – of the season.

Pachuca came out attacking as they looked to put their home-field advantage to good use. Franco Jara tested Lucero Álvarez early on before the opening goal came in just the 9th minute. From a corner kick, Ángelo Sagal got the final touch to make it 1-0 for the hosts.

Sagal was involved in Pachuca’s next goal as well, as it was his foray into the box that drew a foul and provided the Tuzos with a penalty kick. Jara took the spot kick and he converted it to make it 2-0 in the 23rd minute.

Shortly before halftime, Pachuca added a third. In the 39th minute, Erick Aguirre finished off a good team play involving Víctor Guzmán and Keisuke Honda to give the Tuzos a comfortable 3-0 lead.

Lobos made two halftime substitutions as they looked to get back into the game, and in the 47th minute they were able to reduce the deficit. Heriberto Olvera sent his diagonal shot into the far corner, just out of the reach of a diving Alfonso Blanco, to make it 3-1.

The crowd in the Estadio Hidalgo was immediately reminded of the lead Pachuca lost to Pumas in week one; however, Lobos were unable to pull off a similar comeback.

As the half wore on, Pachuca had numerous chances to add to their lead. One of the best came in the 82nd minute when Honda saw his shot hit the near post, rebound across the face of goal, hit the far post, and rebound back into the box without ever crossing the line; Emmanuel García finished off the loose ball, but his would-be goal was disallowed for offside.

With the 3-1 win, Pachuca reaches four points while Lobos still have zero.
