Toluca vs Cruz Azul – 1:00 PM – Univision / Univision Deportes
Toluca (11th) beat Atlas 1-3 last weekend to give them their first win of the season. The Diablos Rojos are still looking for their first home win, though, and they’ll see if they can get it here when they return to the Estadio Nemesio Diez after two away games. They fell in midweek in yet another away game, though, where they lost 2-1 to Santos Laguna in the Copa MX.
As for Cruz Azul (5th), La Máquina drew 0-0 with León last weekend to keep them unbeaten this season but also winless at home. They’re perfect on the road to date, though, and they’ll look for another away win in this one. Cruz Azul’s been very good defensively, with just one goal allowed in their three games, but they’ve also been shut out twice themselves. They will be better rested than their opponent, though, as they did not have a midweek game.
Veracruz vs Santos Laguna – 7:00 PM – Univision Deportes
Veracruz (16th) fell 2-0 to Puebla last weekend to remain winless this season. The Tiburones Rojos are in last place in the relegation standings and the gap between themselves and safety is widening with each game without a win. Veracruz needs to start picking up points ASAP, but to do that they’re going to need to start scoring. The Tiburones have failed to score a single goal so far in the Clausura 2018.
As for Santos Laguna (3rd), the Laguneros beat Monarcas Morelia 1-0 last weekend to remain perfect at home this season. They won at home in midweek as well with a 2-1 victory against Toluca. Santos is winless on the road, though, and they’ll look to change that here against a struggling opponent. They have the second-best attacking record in the league as well as the league’s leading goal scorer, Djaniny, who has five goals in three games.
