Santos Laguna vs Tijuana – Jornada 5 Recap and Highlights

Neither team could find the breakthrough in this one as Santos Laguna and Tijuana played out a 0-0 draw. The result keeps Santos unbeaten at home this season, while the Xolos remain unbeaten overall as they posted their fifth straight clean sheet to start the Clausura 2018.

Both teams came out attacking and Tijuana nearly took the lead in the 7th minute, when Gustavou Bou hit the post. Throughout the course of the half, though, it was Santos who had the better of the opportunities.

The best sequence for the hosts came shortly before halftime, when Tijuana struggled to clear their lines, but afer a series of rebounds in the box, Jesús Isijara was denied by Gibrán Lajud.

In the second half, Santos had some good chances through Julio César Furch, but the Xolos stood firm defensively, with their shutout streak reaching 450 minutes.

Tijuana hasn’t had as much success scoring goals as they’ve had preventing them, and tonight was no different as they ultimately did little to trouble Jonathan Orozco.

With the 0-0 draw, Santos reaches eight points while Tijuana reaches nine.
