Monarcas Morelia came from behind to earn a 2-1 win against Lobos BUAP. The result snaps a two-game losing streak for the michoacanos while the Licántropos saw their two-game unbeaten streak halted and have now lost four straight on the road.
The game started off well for the visitors, though, and Lobos took the lead in the 21st minute. Irven Ávila and Julián Quiñones combined well before Quiñones applied the finishing touch to make it 0-1.
Morelia came close to tying the game just before halftime, but Raúl Ruidíaz couldn’t capitalize on the opportunity. They did level the game in the second half, though, when Miguel Ángel Sansores finished off a rebound given up by Jorge Villalpando to make it 1-1 in the 63rd minute.
As time wore on, it looked like the tie would be the final result. Then, in the 87th minute, Morelia completed the comeback. Ruidíaz received a cut back from Gastón Lezcano and he sent it into the net to make it 2-1 for the hosts.
Lobos had one last-gasp chance to salvage a point, but Facundo Erpen couldn’t get his attempt on target.
With the 2-1 win, Morelia reaches 13 points while Lobos still have five.
