Mexico’s representatives will be in action on Tuesday and Wednesday, with all four teams hosting these second legs. Tigres UANL, the first Liga MX team in action, drew 2-2 with Herediano in their first leg in Costa Rica, meaning the universitarios will advance with a win or a 0-0 or 1-1 draw on Tuesday; a 2-2 draw would send the game to extra time, and a draw of 3-3 or higher would advance Herediano.
Tijuana, who also plays on Tuesday, earned a 0-1 away win against Motagua in their first leg. The Xolos will advance with any win or draw; a 0-1 loss would send the game to extra time while any other loss would see the Hondurans advance.
Then on Wednesday, Chivas de Guadalajara will host Cibao, who they beat 0-2 in the first leg in the Dominican Republic. El Rebaño will move on with any win or draw or a one-goal loss; a 0-2 loss would send the game to extra time, while a loss by a higher margin – or a two-goal loss in which Cibao scores at least three goals – would eliminate Chivas.
América will be the final Liga MX team in action when they host Deportivo Saprissa. The Águilas are in prime position to move on to the quarterfinals after they earned a comprehensive 1-5 away win against the Costa Ricans in the first leg. Saprissa would need to score at least five goals of their own in the Azteca to turn things around here.
All times Eastern, home team listed first.
