The game started off somewhat slowly, with Lobos unable to get into the game. Tijuana had several chances to take the lead before a goalkeeping error allowed them to open the scoring in the 35th minute. Luis Mendoza’s shot from distance went straight through goalkeeper Jorge Villalpando to make it 1-0.
In the second half, Tijuana earned a penalty kick after Luis Advíncula handled a free kick. Miler Bolaños stepped up to take the spot kick and he made it 2-0 for the Xolos in the 62nd minute.
The hosts made it 3-0 in the 72nd minute when José García took advantage of Francisco Rodríguez’s slip to shoot from outside the box. It was his first goal in Liga MX.
Lobos scored a consolation goal late on, with Julián Quiñones making it 3-1 in the 84th minute, but they could fight back no further than that.
With the 3-1 win, Tijuana reaches 16 points while Lobos still have eight.
