Tijuana vs Monarcas Morelia – Jornada 12 Recap and Highlights

Tijuana took the lead but couldn’t hold it as Monarcas Morelia came back for a 1-1 draw. The result keeps the Xolos unbeaten at home in three but winless in two overall, while the michoacanos remain unbeaten in three.

The hosts took the lead early on as they looked to bounce back from their Champions League loss in midweek. In just the 5th minute, Miler Bolaños took advantage of a mistake by Sebastián Sosa, who failed to cut out a cross by José Rivero. The ball fell to the Ecuadorian, who made it 1-0 at the back post.

Morelia pressed for a response, and they got it in the 36th minute. The visitors earned a free kick in a dangerous spot and Diego Valdés placed it perfectly into the net to make it 1-1 with his golazo.

They then nearly turned the result around just before halftime, but Rodrigo Millar hit the crossbar with his volley.

In the second half, the Xolos had the better of the chances, but they failed to convert them. They came closest through Alberto García, who hit the post in the 66th minute, but they couldn’t find that elusive second goal.

Then, in stoppage time, Tijuana went down to 10 men as Damián Musto was given his second yellow card of the night and sent off. There was no time left for Morelia to make their numerical advantage count, however, and the two teams had to settle for a share of the spoils.

With the 1-1 draw, Tijuana reaches 17 points while Morelia reaches 20.
