The defending Liga MX champions suffered an early set back as they fell behind in just the 8th minute. Bryan Rabello sent his shot from distance into the back of the net to make it 0-1 for the Licántropos.
Lobos kept the pressure on as they looked to add to their advantage, and they came close in the 40th minute. However, Carlos Acevedo was able to make the save on Mauro Laínez.
Santos didn’t begin to threaten an equalizer in earnest until the waning moments of the half. In the 42nd minute, Julio César Furch met a cross from Brian Lozano that had Toño Rodríguez scrambling, but the keeper was able to keep the ball out.
In the second half, Santos looked like a different team and they wasted no time in tying the game. In the 46th minute, Brian Lozano’s volleyed effort beat Rodríguez to make it 1-1.
The home team had all the momentum after that and they were able to complete the comeback 10 minutes later. In the 56th minute, Jonathan Rodríguez beat Maza Rodríguez in a footrace before beating the keeper to make it 2-1 for Santos.
Lobos were unable to find a second goal of their own as the Laguneros comfortably saw out the rest of the game.
With the 2-1 win, Santos reaches three points while Lobos still have zero.
