Necaxa vs Lobos BUAP – Jornada 3 Recap and Highlights

Despite going down to 10 men in the first half, Necaxa was able to earn a 1-0 win against Lobos BUAP. The result keeps the Rayos perfect at home this season, while the Licántropos remain winless on the road.

Both teams came out attacking and the visitors had the first good chance when Aldo Cruz tried his luck from distance. Hugo González made the save to send the ball out for a corner kick, and Francisco Rodríguez nearly scored from that set piece, only for Brian Fernández to make the goal-line save.

Then, in the 20th minute, Víctor Dávila came close to putting Necaxa in front, but his shot was just wide. But shortly before halftime, the hosts’ evening took a turn for the worse as Luis Gallegos was given a straight red card in the 38th minute.

Lobos looked to take advantage of their extra man in the second half, but the final touch was lacking and they couldn’t get past González to open the scoring.

Then, just as the game looked certain to end in a 0-0 draw, Necaxa mounted a quick counterattack in stoppage time. Dávila played in Dieter Villalpando, and the midfielder beat José Rodríguez to make it 1-0 for the Rayos in the 91st minute.

With the 1-0 win, Necaxa reaches six points while Lobos still have three.
