Chivas came out attacking as they looked to end a long run of poor results at home. They had the first good chance of the game in the 6th minute, when Jesús Godínez sent a hard shot towards goal, but Jonathan Orozco was able to make the save.
Then, in the 12th minute, Ángel Zaldívar nearly opened the scoring when he got his head to a cross from the right, but sent the header right at the keeper.
The pressure paid off in the 25th minute. Javier López sent in a cross for Isaác Brizuela, and although the keeper made the initial save, Brizuela sent the rebound into the corner to make it 1-0 for Chivas.
Santos started to react after falling behind. Jonathan Rodríguez came close to an equalizer with his point-blank shot, but Raúl Godínez made the save. Then, shortly before halftime, the visitors made it 1-1 as Matheus Doria finished off a free kick in the 39th minute.
In the second half, Santos kept pressing as they looked to complete the comeback. In the 77th minute, Julio César Furch found Rodríguez with a low cross, which he finished off to make it 1-2 for the Laguneros.
Chivas controlled possession in the closing stages of the game, but they were unable to take advantage of it as they slumped to yet another home defeat.
With the 1-2 win, Santos reaches nine points while Chivas still has one.
