Veracruz vs Chivas de Guadalajara – 8:00 PM – Unimás
Veracruz (13th) beat Puebla 1-2 last weekend to keep the Tiburones Rojos unbeaten in two. They’re still at the bottom of the relegation standings, though – and they’re still winless at home. Their poor home form continued in midweek, where they suffered a 0-3 loss to América in the Copa MX. They’ve had some trouble scoring – they’re averaging just a goal a game – but they’re facing another struggling team in this one and they’ll look to get on track with a home win here.
As for Chivas de Guadalajara (17th), El Rebaño fell 1-2 to Santos Laguna last weekend to remain winless in league play this season. They did pick up a win in the Copa MX in midweek, with a 1-0 victory against Alebrijes de Oaxaca, and they’ll look to carry that form over into this one. Their lone point of the Apertura came on the road and they’ll look to take advantage of another team with home woes in this one.
Atlas vs Monarcas Morelia – 10:00 PM – Univision Deportes
Atlas (16th) drew 0-0 with Lobos BUAP last weekend to snap a two-game losing streak. The Rojinegros are still winless this season, though, and they have yet to score so much as a single goal, having endured four consecutive shutouts. It goes without saying that they need to score if they want to find that elusive first win, and they’ll hope to do so in front of their home fans in this one.
As for Monarcas Morelia (7th), the michoacanos beat Necaxa 2-1 last weekend to remain perfect at home and unbeaten in three overall. Morelia is tied for the second-most goals scored to date, but they’ve also conceded a lot, particularly as the away team. They’ll look for their first clean sheet of the season when they face Atlas’s toothless attack in this one.
