Puebla vs Atlas – Jornada 6 Recap and Highlights

Puebla got back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory against Atlas. The result snaps a three-game winless streak for the Poblanos, while the Rojinegros remain both winless and goalless in the Apertura 2018.

Puebla came out attacking and Alejandro Chumacero had an early chance, but Omar González made a timely defensive intervention to keep the hosts off the board. Atlas weathered the early pressure and then created a good chance of their own through Andrés Andrade, but he was denied by Nicolás Vikonis.

Atlas couldn’t make their chances count while they had them, though, and Puebla soon retook control of the game. In the 21st minute, they took the lead as well. Lucas Cavallini got past his defender and sent the ball in for Chumacero, who made it 1-0.

In the second half, Puebla looked to add to their lead and they kept the ball in their attacking third. Then, in the 68th minute, they won a penalty kick after Cristian Calderón fouled substitute Christian Tabó in the box just moments after he had entered the game.

Daniel Arreola stepped up to take the PK and he converted it to give Puebla the 2-0 lead.

Atlas was unable to react as their scoreless streak grew to 540 minutes of league play.

With the 2-0 win, Puebla reaches seven points while Atlas still has two.
