Querétaro remained unbeaten at home this season with a 2-0 victory against Lobos BUAP. The result is a second straight win for the Gallos Blancos, who are now unbeaten in three, while the Licántropos have now lost three in a row and remain winless in five.
The hosts looked the stronger side in the first half, although clear goal-scoring chances were few and far between for both teams. The first opportunity of note didn’t come until the 20th minute, when Abraham González tried his luck from outside the box, but his shot went harmlessly high.
Just as it looked like the game would remain 0-0 going into halftime, Querétaro took the lead through Camilo Sanvezzo. The Brazilian scored direct from a free kick to make it 1-0 in the 43rd minute.
Lobos looked for a response in the second half, but their attack remained toothless. Instead, in the 65th minute, Matías Britos played in Sanvezzo for his second of the afternoon as he beat Toño Rodríguez with a low diagonal shot to make it 2-0 for the hosts.
After that second goal, the Licántropos began to look a bit more dangerous, but Tiago Volpi stood firm in goal, denying Gabriel Cortez and Felix Crisanto as he preserved the clean sheet.
With the 2-0 win, Querétaro reaches 11 points while Lobos still have four.
