Toluca took the lead but couldn’t hold it as León came back for a 1-2 away win. The result is a second straight win for La Fiera, who have now won three of their last four, while the Diablos Rojos now have back-to-back losses.
The game started off well for the hosts, who took the lead in just the 6th minute. Cristian Borja sent a cross into the box; the defense tried to clear it, but the ball fell for Rodrigo Salinas, whose left-footed shot made it 1-0 for Toluca early on.
But after falling behind, León began to look the better side. They had more possession and attacked with intent, and it took just 10 minutes to find the equalizer. In the 16th minute, Pedro Aquino headed home a corner kick to make it 1-1.
Toluca had a chance on the counter when William da Silva won the ball and sprung Alexis Vega, who then found Amaury Escoto, but he couldn’t make clean contact on his shot.
The game stayed tilted in León’s favor, and just before halftime they completed the comeback. In the 44th minute, Mauro Boselli found Maxi Cerato, whose initial shot was saved by Talavera. But Boselli finished off the rebound to make it 1-2 for León.
In the second half, Toluca pressed with more intent as the Diablos Rojos looked to get back into the game, and it became an end-to-end affair with chances for both sides. But Rodolfo Cota stood firm in goal and kept the hosts from finding an equalizer.
With the 1-2 win, León reaches 10 points while Toluca still has 10.
