América earned a 0-2 away win against Lobos BUAP in the final game of Jornada 8. The result is a fourth straight loss for the Licántropos, who are winless in six, while the Águilas snapped a three-game winless streak and are now unbeaten in two.
Lobos were looking to get back on track on home ground, but it was América who had the first good chance of the game with an early corner kick. Guido Rodríguez connected with the set piece, but Jordan Sierra made the defensive play to preserve the draw in the 3rd minute.
Lobos had a chance in the 18th minute when Omar Tejeda took advantage of a mistake by Edson Álvarez, but the ensuing shot was off target.
Then, in the 29th minute, the visitors took the lead. Lobos failed to clear their lines and Oribe Peralta was there to make it 0-1 for the Águilas.
In the second half, Lobos began to look more dangerous as they pressed forward with intent. In the 54th minute, Tejeda had another good opportunity but he was denied by the defense. Then, in the 76th minute, Gabriel Cortez had a chance from a set piece, but Agustín Marchesín made the save.
The universitarios were unable to find the breakthrough, and to add insult to injury, they conceded a penalty kick in stoppage time. Mateus Uribe stepped up to take it, and with the final kick of the game, he gave América the 0-2 lead.
With the 0-2 win, América reaches 14 points while Lobos still have four.
