Pachuca vs Tigres UANL – Jornada 9 Recap and Highlights

Pachuca took the lead but couldn’t hold it as Tigres UANL came back for a 1-1 draw. The result ends the Tuzos’ two-game winning streak but keeps them unbeaten in six, while the universitarios remain winless on the road but unbeaten in four overall.

The two teams traded chances in the first half, with Franco Jara coming close from a header in the 14th minute before André-Pierre Gignac had a pair of opportunities go wide at the other end. Then, in the 30th minute, the hosts took the lead.

Jaine Barreiro kept the ball in play along the sideline and found Jara, who played the ball out to Pablo López and continued his run into the box. López sent the cross in and Jara headed it past Nahuel Guzmán to make it 1-0 for Pachuca.

The Tuzos kept pressing after taking the lead and they had a pair of chances in quick succession, but Guzmán made the saves.

In the second half, Pachuca continued to have the better of possession, although Tigres created a few dangerous chances on the counterattack. As the clock wound down, it looked like the Tuzos would make their lead stand up; then, in the 81st minute, Tigres equalized.

Lucas Zelarayán received the ball outside the box, cut towards the center, and sent his shot from just outside the 18 arcing just over the outstretched hand of Alfonso Blanco as he made it 1-1 with a golazo.

Tigres very nearly completed the comeback late on as Jesús Dueñas hit the woodwork, but in the end the teams had to settle for a share of the spoils.

With the 1-1 draw, Pachuca reaches 12 points while Tigres reach 14.
