After León’s 3-0 loss to Santos Laguna this weekend, the club parted ways with coach Gustavo Díaz. In a statement, León said that the club’s poor results – La Fiera is currently sitting in 15th place with 10 points from nine games – led to the “difficult” decision to make a change.
To replace Díaz, León has brought in Ignacio Ambriz, a familiar face on the sidelines of Liga MX.
Nacho Ambriz most recently was in charge of Necaxa, and the experienced coach has also overseen América, Querétaro, Chivas, San Luis, and Puebla. León cited his “great experience” as coach of various Mexican clubs and his knowledge of Mexican soccer in their announcement of his hiring.
