León started the game off well and found some early chances. Walter González had an opportunity just minutes into the game, but Gabriel Achilier was able to send the ball out for a corner kick.
At the other end, Rodolfo Vilchis looked to catch Rodolfo Cota off his line with a shot from distance, but his shot was ultimately off target.
The two teams continued to trade chances throughout the first half, with León having the better of them, but the game remained goalless at halftime.
It wasn’t until the 67th minute that Morelia was able to break the deadlock. Carlos Ferreira was played in behind the defense, who futilely put their hands up for offside as Ferreira took the ball into the box and beat Cota to make it 0-1.
León was able to tie it up late on thanks to a fortuitous bounce, as the ball struck a Morelia defender and bounced to the foot of Walter González, who made it 1-1 in the 84th minute from close range.
But Morelia was able to retake the lead at the death, as Miguel Ángel Sansores headed home an 89th-minute corner kick to make it 1-2 for the visitors.
With the 1-2 win, Morelia reaches 16 points while León still has 13.
