Tigres UANL vs América – Jornada 12 Recap and Highlights

América took an early lead and fought off a comeback attempt as they picked up a 2-3 away win against Tigres UANL. The result keeps the Águilas unbeaten in six – and gives them a three-game road winning streak – while the universitarios saw their own six-game unbeaten streak halted.

The scoring started early in this one, with América taking the lead in just the 8th minute. Roger Martínez ran on to a deflected shot at the end line and he sent it back across the face of goal, where Bruno Valdez was lurking at the far post to make it 0-1.

The hosts looked for a reaction and in the 32nd minute, they found one. Tigres moved the ball quickly up the right wing and into the box, where Luis Rodríguez beat his defender before sending the ball into the opposite side of the goal to tie the game 1-1.

But just moments into the second half, América retook the lead. In the 46th minute, Víctor Aguilera made it 1-2 as he headed home a corner kick to put the Águilas back in front.

Then, in the 56th minute, Guido Rodríguez added what looked like an insurance goal as he made it 1-3 for América when he finished off another corner kick.

But just a minute later, Tigres reduced the deficit as André-Pierre Gignac beat Agustín Marchesín from outside the box to make it 2-3 in the 57th minute.

The hosts were unable to build on Gignac’s goal, however, as América held on to the lead.

With the 3-2 win, América reaches 24 points while Tigres still have 18.
