Mexico vs Costa Rica – International Friendly – Where to Watch

The Mexican national team will take on their Costa Rican counterparts in an international friendly in the Estadio Universitario on Thursday, October 11.

El Tri is still under the interim management of Tigres UANL coach Ricardo Ferretti, while the Ticos have just announced the hiring of Gustavo Matosas as their new coach. Matosas will be watching this friendly from the stands, however, as he will not take charge until after this month’s matches.

Both of these CONCACAF rivals are in a poor run of form at the moment, with Mexico having lost their last four (1-0 to the U.S., 4-1 to Uruguay, 2-0 to Brazil, 3-0 to Sweden), while Costa Rica has three losses and a draw in their last four (3-0 to Japan, 2-0 to South Korea, 2-0 to Brazil, and 2-2 with Switzerland).

On the other hand, both teams have been focusing on younger rosters and new players; Mexico’s roster features 17 players under age 25, with five of those under age 20, and the young and fringe players will be looking to make their marks here.

All times Eastern.
