León earned their first win of the Clausura 2019 in style with a 0-4 thrashing of Querétaro. The result keeps La Fiera unbeaten on the road this season, while the Gallos Blancos remain winless after suffering their fourth straight loss.
The game started off perfectly for the visitors, who took the lead in just the 2nd minute. A series of quick passes in the attacking third ended with Ángel Mena sending a cross to the far post, where Pedro Aquino jumped highest to head it home. 0-1 for León.
Falling behind so early was a serious blow for Querétaro, who had yet to register so much as a point this season, and they struggled to react to the early deficit. Meanwhile, León was only growing in confidence.
In the 34th minute, the visitors added a second. Fernando Navarro played a ball over the top for Mena, who got his own name on the scoresheet with a tricky goal from a tight angle to make it 0-2.
Minutes after that, León made it 3-0 as José Macías chased down a long pass and beat Nicolás Navarro from the top of the box to put the visitors comfortably ahead in the 38th minute.
Querétaro was completely unable to react despite making a pair of halftime substitutions, and León added to their lead in the second stanza. In the 51st minute, Macías scored his second of the afternoon after Mena laid the ball off in the box, giving León an unassailable 0-4 lead.
León continued to dominate the game after the fourth goal, but they were unable to run the score up any further. Querétaro, meanwhile, was utterly unable to threaten Rodolfo Cota’s goal.
With the 0-4 win, León reaches five points while Querétaro still has zero.
