Pumas UNAM officially announced Bruno Marioni as the new coach of the club, following the dismissal of David Patiño on Sunday.
Club Universidad Nacional reports: @BrunoMarioni, new coach of Pumas
Marioni is a familiar figure for Pumas fans; as a player, he was the leading goalscorer in the Clausura 2004 season – the season Pumas won the league title for the first time in 13 years.
As a coach, however, Marioni’s resume is not so impressive; UNAM will be his first first-division team. He previously coached Venados in Ascenso MX, where he had a losing record. In his 50 league games with Venados, he had a record of 14 wins, 16 draws, and 20 losses; in his 11 Copa MX matches, he had nine losses and two draws.
Nevertheless, Pumas will hope Marioni can get them out of their Clausura slump.
