Lobos BUAP took the lead but couldn’t hold it as Pachuca came back for a 1-1 draw. The result ends the Licántropos’ two-game losing streak but keeps them winless in three, while the Tuzos are now unbeaten in two.
Lobos came out attacking as they looked to make their home field advantage count. In the 8th minute, Michaell Chirinos sent a low shot towards goal that Alfonso Blanco stopped, giving up a rebound that fell to Leonardo Ramos – who couldn’t get his shot on target.
It took the visitors a while to settle into the game, but a defensive error gave them a good opportunity in the 20th minute. Franco Jara got the ball but his low shot was stopped by Toño Rodríguez in a preview of things to come; the keeper repeatedly won his individual battle with Jara throughout the game.
Neither team could find the breakthrough in the first half, but that changed moments after the restart. In the 46th minute, Yago da Silva drove into the box before laying the ball off for Chirinos; he forced his way through the defense before getting off a shot that made it 1-0 for Lobos BUAP.
But Pachuca didn’t take long to find a response. In the 51st minute, Edwin Cardona received a throw in, turned, and sent a cross to the far post for Ángelo Sagal, who bundled home the equalizer to make it 1-1.
The Tuzos looked to complete the comeback, and they did have the ball in the back of the net again, but that would-be goal was disallowed for a foul in the buildup. Rodríguez also continued to have an impressive game in goal, making a number of saves – most against Jara – to keep Pachuca from taking the lead.
In the end, the two teams had to settle for a share of the spoils.
