Santos Laguna vs Tijuana – Jornada 6 Recap and Highlights

Tijuana took the lead but couldn’t hold it as Santos Laguna came back for a 1-1 draw. The result keeps the Laguneros unbeaten at home this season, but winless in two overall, while the Xolos are unbeaten in two.

The visitors started the game off better, with Santos struggling to get into a rhythm. Gustavo Bou had the first chance of the game with a shot from outside the box that went just wide; the Xolos continued to press, and in the 19th minute they took the lead.

Fabián Castillo played in Miler Bolaños, who chipped the ball over the onrushing Jonathan Orozco before chasing it down and knocking it into the empty net to make it 0-1 for Tijuana.

Santos looked for a response, but it wasn’t until the second half that they began to threaten an equalizer. They found it from a set piece in the 58th minute, as Hugo Rodríguez headed a corner kick towards goal for Marcelo Correa to knock home, making it 1-1.

The goal inspired Santos, who looked to complete the comeback. They attacked up the wings and had several more set piece opportunities, but in the end they couldn’t find a second goal as the two teams settled for a share of the spoils.

With the 1-1 draw, Santos reaches eight points while Tijuana reaches seven.
