Chivas de Guadalajara snagged the bragging rights in the Clausura 2019 Clásico Tapatío with a comfortable 3-0 win against rivals Atlas. The result keeps El Rebaño unbeaten in three and unbeaten at home this season, while the Rojinegros have now lost two in a row.
The game started off well for the hosts, who opened the scoring in just the 7th minute. Atlas lost the ball trying to play out of the back, with Nicolás Pareja’s attempted clearance hitting Carlos Cisneros. Alexis Vega pounced on the rebound and slotted it past José Hernández to make it 1-0 for Chivas.
The goal added to Guadalajara’s confidence and they continued to attack. They found a second goal in the 22nd minute, when Isaác Brizuela played Vega into the box, where he beat Hernández with his first-time shot to make it 2-0.
Atlas came out somewhat stronger in the second half as they looked to get back into the game, but Chivas didn’t give them the opportunity. In the 60th minute, Vega finished off his hat-trick with a low shot from inside the box after Brizuela got into the box and laid the ball back for him.
Atlas couldn’t respond to falling 3-0 behind, especially when Chivas slowed the pace of the game and sat back to see out their clean sheet and their victory.
With the 3-0 win, Chivas reaches 14 points while Atlas still has 10.
