América got back to winning ways with a comfortable 3-0 victory against Lobos BUAP. The result snapped a two-game losing streak for the Águilas, while the Licántropos have now lost two of their last three – and three in a row on the road.
América came out looking to put their home field advantage to good use, and they created chances from the beginning, but it took them half an hour to find the breakthrough. In the 32nd minute, Edson Álvarez just kept the ball in play along the end line and played it back to Jorge Sánchez, who played a cross into the box for Henry Martín to head home. 1-0.
América continued to dominate after the goal, and in the second half they repeatedly came close to adding another. Renato Ibarra, who had been active in attack all game, sent a good ball to the far post for Nicolás Castillo, but he couldn’t finish it off.
Lobos pressed for an equalizer, but they were unable to do much to trouble Agustín Marchesín in goal.
Then, in the 83rd minute, Castillo added an insurance goal for América when he received the ball with his back to goal, spun past his defender, and sent a low shot into the far corner from the top of the box to make it 2-0.
Minutes later, Castillo put an exclamation mark on the win with another goal from a similar spot to make it 3-0 in the 89th minute.
With the 3-0 win, América reaches 12 points while Lobos still have 10.
