The lead didn’t last long, however, before Chivas tied it up in the 19th minute. Óscar Murillo tackled the ball away from Alexis Vega in the box, but the rebound fell to Isaác Brizuela, whose shot took a deflection to take it past Alfonso Blanco and make it 1-1.
Pachuca reclaimed the lead moments after the second half began. Víctor Guzmán pounced on a rebound given up by Raúl Gudiño to make it 2-1 in the 47th minute.
Chivas pressed for another equalizer, and they came close a few times, but they couldn’t find another breakthrough. Then, in the 80th minute, Leonardo Ulloa made it academic as his diving header gave Pachuca the definitive 3-1 lead.
