After the departure of Hernán Crisante, Toluca has announced Ricardo La Volpe as their new head coach.
The Argentinian coach has a long history in Mexican soccer, and he has history with Toluca as well; this will be his second stint in charge of the Diablos Rojos – 17 years after the first.
He takes over with Toluca sitting in 14th place with 10 points and a 3-1-5 record; the Diablos did not fare well in their other competition this season, either, as they were bounced out of the CONCACAF Champions League by Sporting Kansas City.
La Volpe’s first game in charge will be against Necaxa in Jornada 10 play, after José Luis Real served as interim coach in the league this past weekend.
Joining La Volpe on the coaching staff are assistants Rafael García and Martín Salcedo, and physical trainer Hernán Puerta.
