Monarcas Morelia took a 2-0 lead but couldn’t hold it as León stormed back for a 2-3 away win. The result extends La Fiera’s winning streak to nine games and keeps them unbeaten on the road, while La Monarquía are now winless in nine.
The game started off perfectly for the hosts, who surprised the superlíderes by taking the lead in just the 4th minute. The unfortunate Andrés Mosquera sent a cross into his own net when he tried to cut out the service, with his own-goal making it 1-0 for Morelia early on.
They quickly added a second. In the 10th minute, Carlos Ferreira got on the end of a low cross and sent it into the net to make it 2-0 for the hosts.
León, who had a number of players returning from international duty, struggled to get into the game in the first half. It was a different story after the break, however.
Soon after the restart, León reduced the deficit with help from goalkeeper Sebastián Sosa, who came off his line and failed to cut out a cross, with the ball bouncing past him into the empty net, making it 2-1 in the 52nd minute.
The visitors then had a chance to tie it up from the penalty spot after a handball was called in the box. Ángel Mena stepped up to take the spot kick, and he converted it to make it 2-2 in the 65th minute.
An energized León continued to press as they looked to complete the comeback, and in the 82nd minute they managed it. Mena beat Sosa with a low shot from just outside the box to give the visitors the definitive 2-3 lead.
William Tesillo was sent off in stoppage time after picking up his second yellow of the game, but there was not enough time for Morelia to try to take advantage of playing against 10.
With the 2-3 win, León reaches 29 points while Morelia still has seven.
