Just three hours after suffering a 2-1 loss to Pumas UNAM, Chivas de Guadalajara announced the departure of head coach José Saturnino Cardozo.
El Rebaño is in the midst of a five-game winless streak in league play, and they were also recently knocked out of the Copa MX by their arch-rivals, Club América.
The winless streak has also seen the club slip down the Tabla de Cociente that controls relegation; although they are in no danger this year, as things stand they would start the 2019-2020 cycle in a very precarious position.
Cardozo leaves Chivas sitting in 11th place in the league standings with a 4-3-5 record and 15 points. In his 42 total games in charge of the club, Cardozo amassed a record of 15 wins, 15 losses, and 12 draws; in league play, he oversaw 29 games and had a losing record, with nine wins, 12 losses, and eight draws.
Chivas has announced Alberto Coyote as interim head coach.
