Tijuana vs Lobos BUAP – Jornada 15 Recap and Highlights

Tijuana took the lead but couldn’t hold it as Lobos BUAP came back for a 1-2 away win. The result gives the Licántropos two wins in their last three and keeps them in playoff contention, while the Xolos have now lost two in a row and three of their last four.

The game started off perfectly for the hosts, who took the lead in just the 4th minute. A corner kick was nodded to the back post by Julián Velázquez, and Gustavo Bou was there, unmarked, to slot it home and give Tijuana the 1-0 lead very early on.

The Lobos were shaken by the early goal and Tijuana began to control the game, enjoying more possession and pushing consistently into the attacking third. However, they weren’t able to find an insurance goal as chance after chance went begging.

Then, against the run of play, Lobos tied the game up just past the half-hour mark. Mauro Lainez sent a cross in from the left and Leonardo Ramos headed it home to make it 1-1 in the 32nd minute.

The goal restored the visitors’ confidence, and they began to press forward with more intent. That pressure paid off just minutes into the second half, when Lobos won a penalty after Velázquez brought down Óscar Macías in the box.

Ramos stepped up to take the spot kick, and he converted it to give Lobos the 1-2 lead in the 49th minute.

Tijuana looked for a response, knowing that a loss could see them finish the weekend outside of the playoff places, but Lobos defended well and prevented the Xolos from finding an equalizer.

With the 1-2 win, Lobos reach 20 points while Tijuana still has 22.
