The Rayados have been champions three times, in 2010-11, 2011-12, and 2012-13, while the universitarios have twice reached the final, but have never won, finishing runner-up in 2015-16 and 2016-17.
Both teams rested most of their starters in league play over the weekend to ensure they could bring their bests to this match, where a title is on the line. Tigres will host the first leg of this Clásico Regio final and they’ll hope to put their home-field advantage to good use.
Like in prior rounds, the final is a total goals, aggregate-score series; unlike the previous rounds, away goals are not tiebreakers. Any aggregate draw will send the series to extra time and then penalties if necessary.
All times Eastern.
