Santos Laguna earned a second straight home victory as they beat FC Juárez 3-0. The result sees Santos finish the week at the top of the table, while Juárez has now lost two in a row and is propping up the table.
The hosts came out attacking and had numerous chances, while the Bravos struggled to get into the game. Santos controlled possession and they kept the ball almost entirely in Juárez’s defensive third. In the 11th minute, they appeared to have opened the scoring, but Eryc Castillo’s would-be goal was disallowed for offside.
The Guerreros then had another would-be goal called back shortly before halftime; after VAR review, that strike was disallowed for a foul in the build up.
The third time was the charm for Santos. In the 51st minute, Brian Lozano finished off a good passing sequence when he received a low cross at the far post and made it 1-0. That time, the goal stood.
Juárez was utterly unable to react to falling behind and Santos kept pressing. In the 61st minute, another good team interchange resulted in a goal, with Carlos Orrantia running onto a pass from Julio César Furch and sending his first-time shot into the back of the net to make it 2-0.
The third goal came in the 68th minute. Furch was the provider once again, as he laid the ball back for Adrián Lozano, whose effort from outside the box made it 3-0 for the hosts.
With the 3-0 win, Santos reaches six points while Juárez still has zero.
