Chivas de Guadalajara looked confident in this 3-0 victory against Atlético San Luis. The result keeps El Rebaño unbeaten in three – and perfect at home – while the Potosinos have yet to record a point on the road.
The game started off well for the hosts, who took the lead in the 14th minute. Javier López received the ball just outside the box, turned, and sent his low shot just inside the post to make it 1-0 with his first goal in nearly a calendar year.
San Luis looked for a reaction and they pushed up the field, but they did little to trouble Toño Rodriguez in goal. The visitors’ first truly dangerous chance didn’t come until the second half, from a corner kick, where Joaquín Laso hit the crossbar.
In the 57th minute, Chivas thought they had added a second tally, but Oribe Peralta’s would-be goal was disallowed for offside.
Minutes later, however, Isaác Briseño was brought down in the box and after VAR review, a penalty was awarded. Alan Pulido stepped up and converted it to make it 2-0 in the 64th minute.
San Luis never looked likely to react, and another penalty sealed the victory for Chivas after Alexis Vega was also brought down in the box in the 85th minute. This time Oswaldo Alanís took it, but the result was the same: goal for Chivas.
With the 3-0 win, Chivas reaches seven points while San Luis still has three.
