Querétaro vs León – Jornada 6 Recap & Highlights

León earned a comprehensive 0-4 away win against a Querétaro side that missed a PK when the game was still goalless. The result gives La Fiera two wins in a row, while the Gallos Blancos saw their unbeaten start to the Apertura brought to a decisive halt.

Querétaro started the game off strongly, with several attacking forays. In the 22nd minute, it looked like their pressure would pay off when Andrés Mosquera brought down Enrique Triverio in the box. The referee pointed to the penalty spot – and also showed Mosquera a red.

After VAR review, the red was rescinded, but the penalty call stood. Luis Romo stepped up to take it, but Rodolfo Cota made the save to keep the game 0-0.

That sequence swung the momentum León’s way, and they took the lead in the 33rd minute. Ángel Mena laid the ball off for José Juan Macías at the top of the box, and Macías finished it off first time to make it 0-1 for La Fiera.

In the second half, Querétaro came close to equalizing, but Jaime Gómez’s attempt hit the post in the 62nd minute.

Soon after that, León added a second. In the 66th minute, Luis Montes played a long pass to Mena, who chipped the ball over the onrushing Gil Alcalá to make it 0-2.

The visitors continued to press, and Alcalá twice denied them on one-on-one opportunities, but he could only stem the tide for so long. In the 72nd minute, Macías scored his second of the night, knocking home a cross on the doorstep to make it 0-3.

There was no way back for Querétaro, and in the 89th minute Montes put the icing on the cake when his shot deflected in off Enrique López to give León the definitive 0-4 lead.

With the 0-4 win, León reaches 10 points while Querétaro still has 13.
