The hosts came out attacking and had a pair of early opportunities, but they couldn’t convert them. Then, in the 15th minute, Diego Rolán nearly gave Juárez the lead with his header, but it ended up going over the bar.
The pace of the game slowed after that; Necaxa had more possession but was ineffectual with it as neither team could get much going in the final third.
In the second half, Iván Vázquez became the hero for Juárez as he made several impressive saves to keep Necaxa off the board. In the 58th minute, he made a good save on Juan Delgado, and in the 74th minute, he stopped a point-blank header from Ricardo Chávez.
The hosts kept pressing and in the final moments of the game it looked like they had finally found the breakthrough, but the would-be goal was disallowed for offside as the score stubbornly remained 0-0.
With the 0-0 draw, Necaxa reaches 21 points while Juárez reaches 11.
