Monterrey Parts Ways with Diego Alonso

Monterrey has announced the departures of Diego Alonso and his coaching staff following this weekend’s home loss to Tigres UANL in the Clásico Regio.

Alonso was in charge of the Rayados for just over a year; in that time, Monterrey won the 2019 CONCACAF Champions League (beating rival Tigres in the final), qualified for the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup, and reached the final of the Apertura 2018 Copa MX.

They have struggled this season, however, and are currently sitting 12th in the table with five wins, one draw, and six losses.

The club thanked Alonso and his staff for their commitment and wished them success in their future projects.
